Resolv Lab Suffers $25M DeFi Exploit as Attacker Turns $100K Into Millions
A sophisticated exploit targeting Resolv Labs' DeFi platform has exposed critical vulnerabilities in smart contract security. The attacker manipulated the USR minting system, converting a $100,000 USDC deposit into 50 million USR tokens—a 50,000% overcredit that suggests fundamental flaws in the protocol's validation mechanisms.
Blockchain analysts at Arkham Intelligence first detected the anomaly, noting the attacker used the 'requestSwap' function to trigger abnormal token minting. The compromised transaction bypassed standard checks between the requestSwap and completeSwap stages, enabling the massive illegitimate issuance.
The assailant subsequently converted the stolen USR into wrapped tokens (wstUSR) and liquid assets across decentralized exchanges. This incident follows a troubling pattern of DeFi exploits in 2023, with over $1 billion already lost to similar contract vulnerabilities.
